A poster dedicated to artist and font designer, Harold Lohner.
This was my response to an assignment in a typography course. We were all asked to find and interview a font designer. I’d used several of Mr. Lohner’s fonts and so it was.
The resulting poster is significant to me for several reasons. Visually I wanted to embrace the basics of printing. So I snubbed color and used half-tone patterns for visual flare (like a comic book).
Most lasting, however, is that this project required we print on 11×17 inch paper. I liked the format so much but didn’t revisit it until years later when I did my birthday print series.
As an aside, it was over the course of the birthday series that I learned it’s difficult to consistently find inexpensive 11×17 inch frames at Walmart.
