This theme’s primary goal is to layout most of the content on the screen so that the user has to do as little-to-no scrolling. Thanks to a little jQuery, rows and columns of images are displayed to effectively use available real estate.
The purpose of the single layout as I envision it is to respond to the user’s device with a consistent look: they can browse on their phone and later on a computer and feel a sense of familiarity.
For the most part this layout holds up on tablets and computers. Icons and text are reasonably large and can be touched/clicked on with relative ease.
Where the breakdown occurs is with phone browsers: Text links are tiny and the few places that the user needs to scroll are simply awkward, especially in portrait mode. Lessons learned.
